If you need to remove spacing around the footnote separator line , you must be cognizant of the many factors that play a role in determining this spacing. First, if there is random extra spacing before the line separator on some of your pages, this can be caused by the paragraph pagination options. Second, the line spacing associated with the line separator can cause additional spacing. And, third, additional spacing after the line separator can be caused by additional paragraph markers being included with the separator. Below are the step-by-step instructions for troubleshooting and correcting this issue.

Paragraph Pagination

I use onenote as my journal as my college notebooks, shopping lists etc. I observed that increasing the line spacing makes it easier t read the notes. However doing that is a painful process - no shortcuts. Only way seems to be - to use paragraph spacing from the toolbar,and manually set it for each page.

Check the paragraph pagination for the paragraphs around the line separator issue. You may have Widow/Orphan control, Keep with next, Keep lines together or Page break before set. These options can cause gaps at the end of your document.

1. OneNote Online: If you're curious about how to remove double spacing on Onenote Online just highlight the text, go to the Home tab, select a different style in the Styles menu and then select back to the 'normal' style. It will clear the formatting back to single spaced 0.
2. OneNote has plain, ruled and grid lines with three line-spacing and page colours options. Pages in OneNote are infinite, therefore you can’t pick a page size. The pages in OneNote will keep expanding downwards and sideways (to the right) as long as you keep writing in those directions.

1. Click on the Hometab.
2. Click the Paragraph Dialog Box launcher.
3. Select the Line and Page breaks tab.
4. Navigate to the Paginationarea to check and remove the options as necessary to correct your issue.
5. Once completed, click OK. NOTE: If you need to remove the Widow/Orphan control from the entire document, you will need to modify the paragraph style you are using.

Separator Line Spacing

This change is made from the Footnote Separator options.

How To Change Line Spacing In Onenote Windows 10

1. Switch your document view to Draft.
2. Click the Referencestab.
3. Click Show Notes. This will bring up the footnote window at the bottom of your screen.
4. Click the drop down arrow next to All Footnotes and choose Footnote Separator.
5. Place your cursor on the separator line and right-click.
6. Click Paragraph.
7. In the Spacing section, check the before and after options. You may need to set them to 0, depending on if your spacing is off above or below the line separator. Also, try setting the Line Spacing to single, if it is not already set.
8. Click OK.
9. Set your document view back to Print Layout and verify this has corrected your spacing issues.

Additional Paragraph Markers

1. Make sure your paragraph markers are turned on. IMAGE
2. Switch your document view to Draft.
3. Click the Referencetab.
4. Click Show Notes. This will bring up the footnote window at the bottom of your screen.
5. Click the drop down arrow next to All Footnotes and choose Footnote Separator.
6. Remove any additional paragraph markers from the line separator.
7. Set your document view back to Print Layout and verify this has corrected your spacing issues.
